Meeting Local People

Hola de nuevo!

Today we started with the presentation of 16 classic Spanish songs, one by each of our students. They worked very hard and listened to each song several times, learning new vocabulary and the history of Spain through music. Rosalía, Pereza, Camarón…iconic artists and unforgettable songs that Spanish people know no matter their age.

In the afternoon, we ate some classic Spanish bocadillos on the Paseo de San Pedro and went on a scavenger hunt. The students were assigned themes that they had to interview locals about. They did an incredible job at coming up with questions and presenting their findings about culture and traditions, food, and other subjects to the rest of the group. Here are some pictures with some of the Spanish people that they met!

Before dinner, the group went to a beach where we played different sports as well as board games. To our surprise, two volleyball players from the national Spanish team happened to be there! Our students introduced themselves and went on to play volleyball with them (and they actually did pretty well!). What a better way to end such a special day than going to have the final cachopo?

Both leaders are very proud of the efforts that everyone is making to respect the language pledge and meet local people. And all of this while having fun! Tomorrow we leave for Potes and we plan to post our very first student-written blog entry… stay tuned 🙂

Abrazos,
