¡Hola! I’m Ollie, your student blogger for the day.
Today was our last full day in Madrid. We ate breakfast at our hotel and left for the Reina Sofía museum shortly after. We took a train to the iconic museum and from there split into two groups to view the art. We enjoyed looking at paintings from Dalí’s “The Invisible Man” to Picasso’s “Guernica”.
After the museum, we all split up into our own groups to have lunch and explore Madrid. At 5:30 we regrouped at the hotel for a short Intro-to-Flamenco lesson. This transitioned well into our flamenco show at a place called Las Tablas. The musicians and dancers were all extraordinary.
After that, we took a short walk to see an Egyptian temple dating back to the 2nd century BC, called El Templo de Debod, before going back on the metro to go have dinner at Pointer Madrid, which had some of the most delicious food we’ve tried yet—especially the croquetas!
After a full day, we went back to the hotel and to bed. Tomorrow we head to Albacete to meet our Spanish host families!
Love from Spain,
Oliver H.
