Vamos a Madrid

This post features student writing.

Greetings from España! My name is Vera and I will be writing the following blog post.

Today was a fun-filled and exciting day! We started off great, with an extra hour to sleep in and a filling breakfast. Later, we said our last goodbyes to Fuente De and Potes and headed on a bus for six hours to go to the beautiful and charming city of Madrid. During the bus ride we rested, read, talked, and had quality bonding time. We stopped for a typical Spanish lunch, bocadillos! We continued the ride to Madrid and arrived at around 5:30 PM.

As soon as we step off the bus, the 100-degree (F) weather hit us hard. We settled into our hotel and got ready for dinner. At 7 PM we left the hotel to have a quick snack, explore the vibrant streets of Madrid, and eat a delightful dinner. We stopped at a smoothie place for a boost of energy and continued strolling through the streets.

At around 9 PM we arrived at La Finca de Susana to eat dinner. It was a beautiful place to eat and the food was everything I expected and more! We ordered tapas to share and one main dish. We all got to sample authentic Spanish food, including gambas, gazpacho, and croquetas! Then, for our main dish we ordered fish or meat, which I’m sure many people enjoyed, including me.

After dinner we continued experiencing and learning new things. For example, we watched some typical Spanish street singers and clapped along to the beat. Overall, Madrid has been very fascinating and lovely! I hope to continue experiencing new cultures.

Hugs from Spain!
